A car plunged three storeys into a St Paul's Bay valley early this morning, leaving two men injured.

The police said the incident happened in Dawret San Pawl il-Baħar at 4.40am.

A 29-year-old man from Naxxar was behind the wheel when he lost control of the vehicle as it was heading towards Xemxija, crashing into a wall and plunging into the valley.

A 32-year-old man from Sliema who was a passenger had to be winched to safety through an Armed Forces rescue helicopter while the driver managed to get back on the road unassisted. Both men were taken to hospital for treatment. 

The passenger is suffering from grievous injuries while the driver sustained light injuries. The police are investigating.
