A small airport near Reggio Calabria was closed for some hours because of smoke and ash spewed by an eruption of Mount Etna’s Voragine crater. The dust cloud is continuing to head south but it is expected to dissipate before coming anywhere near Malta.

This is the first time that the Voragine crater erupted in two years.
