Pembroke Athleta brushed aside St Andrew’s 4-0 in one-sided encounter at the Tedesco Stadium.

Winston Muscat’s men were all over their opponents right from the outset and after nine minutes Ariel Laudisi produced a real burst of pace to storm into the area but his low cross was somehow cleared by the St Andrew’s defence. The ball fell to Gustavo Villalobos who drilled a firm drive that gave goalkeeper Kris Calleja no chance.

On the half hour Laudisi raced into the area and tried to slid the ball past Saints goalkeeper Calleja but his effort lacked power and Morigen Sehitaj was on hand to clear.

But Pembroke were not to be denied as on 32 minutes.

Villalobos forced his way into the area and his cross hit Clyde Cumbo with the ball finishing into the net.

Laudisi’s efforts were rewarded with a goal six minutes from half-time when in a swift break he was played in by Villalobos and he kept hold of his nerves to drill the ball past Calleja.

On the stroke of half-time, Dale Camilleri almost pulled a goal back for the Saints but his long-range shot was somehow push over by Farrugia.

St Andrew’s were reduced to ten men on 70 minutes when Uzeh Edafe picked his second yellow card after a rash challenge on Levnaic and was subsequently dismissed.

Pembroke added a fourth goal on 73 minutes when Villalobos picked Kyle O’Brien who beat Calleja with a low drive.

Pembroke’s Gustavo Villalobos was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
