Prime Minister Joseph Muscat did not reply this evening after a Labour MP in a written parliamentary question asked for the removal of the controversial Luqa 'phallic' monument which he said was imposed on the locality by the former government.

The issue was raised by Labour MP Silvio Schembri.

He asked the Prime Minister whether he would see to it that the 'so-called monument' was removed as soon as possible because it was imposed by the former government without consultation with the Luqa council and residents; it had no association with Luqa; it was a subject of ridicule; it was not covered by a Mepa permit and it was subject to an enforcement notice in 2006.

In reply, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said information was being gathered.
