Laurent Blanc has warned he will play younger players if necessary after Edinson Cavani showed his displeasure at being substituted in Paris St Germain’s 4-1 victory over Troyes.

Cavani scored the opening goal – a superb cushioned volley from Angel di Maria’s chipped pass – while Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Layvin Kurzawa and Jean-Kevin Augustin were all on target before Troyes’s Thomas Ayasse netted a stoppage-time consolation.

But the Uruguayan striker was less than impressed at being replaced 10 minutes from time.

“Cavani wasn’t very happy, I can confirm that,” PSG head coach Blanc said.

“But they are never happy and I can understand that. If established players have no motivation, we will play young people.

“They will be happy to play, but I think the established players that I have are currently serious.”

Victory means leaders PSG have now won nine in a row in the league and are guaranteed to head into the mid-season break top of the table.

But Blanc was putting little importance on that achievement, saying: “The title of autumn champions? Good to take.

“It’s a good thing in so far as it confirms that Paris St Germain have a lot of points. It is not a certainty to be champions though.

“We take this honour but we must have the determination to take the points to be champions.”

France defender Kurzawa called it a “beautiful evening” as PSG played at home for the first time since the November 13 terror attacks on their city.

Ibrahimovic’s 85th goal in the top flight equalled the club’s all-time Ligue 1 goal-scoring record, his cool conversion from the penalty spot taking his tally to 10 goals in as many league games.

“It’s a beautiful evening for us and for our fans,” Kurzawa was quoted as saying.

“I hope it will continue like that but it (being autumn champions) means nothing. For me, what counts is to be France champions in late season.”
