Renzo Piano deserves our admiration for his beautiful City Gate project. His magnificent design of the new Parliament and the entrance to our city is there for all to see and appreciate.

However, I cannot say the same thing for the cosmetic modification he planned for the Royal Opera House. It is really a pity that this once magnificent building was left in such a pitiful state.

The government is spending millions on various projects with the financial help of the European Union. Why not give the idea of rebuilding the Royal Opera House a fresh boost? A historic city like Valletta deserves an opera house similar to the one we had before it was destroyed in the war.
