A pan-European curriculum designed to empower vulnerable pupils at risk of leaving school early, absenteeism, disengagement, bullying, social exclusion and marginalisation is set to be presented at a seminar on December 16.
The curriculum was developed in a three-year EU-funded project entitled Resilience Curriculum (Rescur) coordinated by the University of Malta’s Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health that included five other universities in Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Sweden. It was translated in seven languages and piloted among about 3,000 pupils in about 80 early years and primary schools in Europe.
The seminar will include presentations by a primary school of St Margaret College that took part in the piloting of the curriculum. It will also include a panel discussion by professionals and educators on other initiatives taken by the college to promote students’ wellbeing.
A copy of the curriculum will be distributed during the seminar which is mainly aimed at school staff, educators and other professionals working with children in kindergarten and primary schools.
The seminar will be held from 9am to 12.30pm at the main hall of the Office of the Principal, St Margaret College, Fortini, Vittoriosa.
Attendance is free of charge but by registration only.
