Half of unemployed Maltese youngsters aged between 16 and 24 do not see a future for themselves, accordance to a recent census. Asked why they chose to be idle, half the respondents replied that they did not care.

Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said our education system was pushing out such individuals. But to what extent do Malta's social problems exacerbate the issue? Will such youngsters always be social outcasts or can they be integrated back into the system?
