Free organ masterclasses for organ students or pianists who would like to be introduced to the organ will be held on Monday from 10.30am onwards with Erwin Wiersinga from the Netherlands at St Augustine’s parish church in Valletta.

These masterclasses are being supported by the Kingdom Of Netherlands Embassy in Malta.  Prof. Wiersinga will be giving a concert at the same parish church at 8pm tomorrow (after Mass) thanks to Fr Deo Debono OSA, which concert is part of the Malta International Organ Festival.

The festival will come to an end on Monday, December 7 with a Grand Finale Concert playing Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Organ Concerto in G Major for organ and orchestra, conducted by James Ham from the UK, and arias from George Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, Valletta at 7.30pm.

Last year Prof. Wiersinga also held these masterclasses in Malta, and Matthew Schembri was selected to go and study for a Bachelor’s Degree in organ performance at the Prinz Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Those interested to apply for the free masterclass are to send an e-mail to info@maltainternationalorganfestival.com or visit www.MaltaIntertnationalOrganFestival.com or facebook page www.facebook.com/MaltaInternationalOrganFestival.
