A collaboration linking art, business and fair trade showcases the work of seven artists from the Caribbean island of Haiti together with that of Gozitan artist Jackie Roberts in an exhibition entitled Banging the Drum.

Usually a designer clothing boutique, Lazuli ART has been transformed into a pop-up gallery for the duration of the exhibition showing a wide range of unusual metalwork, decorative items and wearable art from the two islands.

Leading Haitian artist Rony Jacques went to Gozo for the opening of the exhibition and delighted visitors with demonstrations of his artistic skill using metal from a steel oil drum.

All the artists share common themes; transforming repurposed and recycled materials; demonstrating similar techniques and skills despite their different geographical locations and cultural backgrounds.

The exhibition is open until Sunday, December 6 at Lazuli ART, St George’s Square, Victoria. Opening hours: Friday from 4-7pm; Saturdays from 10am-2pm and Sundays from 10am-1pm.
