A patrol boat donated by the Irish government reached Malta this morning.

The P62 left Cork last week following maintenance works carried out by the Irish Army and the Armed Forces of Malta.  Major James Grixti captained the boat, accompanied by 41 young Maltese soldiers. They were welcomed by Home Affairs Minister Carm Abela.

The vessel will be used as offshore patrol until works are carried out on the P61 AFM boat and until the Maltese army obtains another vessel.
