This is a photo of one of the official posters issued in commemoration of the Queen’s coronation. It has been hanging on the wall of my Pietà home since 1953, that is, the year of the Queen’s coronation.

My late grandfather, Carmelo Pace, a former Royal Navy petty officer, had acquired it through his contacts in the navy. As a ‘neighbour’ of Princess Elizabeth, my grandfather felt honoured and had great admiration for the Queen and thus he decided to frame and hang this poster in the hall of his home in Blackley Street, a stone’s throw away from Villa Guardamangia.

The poster depicts the Queen surrounded by all the kings and queens who preceded her.

Sixty-two years on and this poster still hangs on the same wall and is still ‘current’ as Queen Elizabeth reigns on.
