In-form teams Valletta and Msida St Joseph maintained their unbeaten start to the Gatorade League.

The Citizens produced two sound performances to chalk up back-to-back wins over Mqabba (7-2) and Mdina Knights (9-3) as they moved on the nine-point mark.

In the game against Mqabba, Xavier Saliba hit the target twice for Valletta while Dylan Musu, Melvin Borg, Cristian Cuadros Silva, Alex Ellul and Jovica Milijic also put their name on the scoresheet.

Thomas Consoli and Ryan Mifsud got Mqabba’s goals.

Mdina put up a decent challenge against Valletta but failed to stop the leaders.

Doubles for Milijic, Musu, Denis di Maio and Mohammed Elamari added to a goal from Jurgen Pace earned Valletta a comfortable victory.

Leo Muscat, Cleavon Portelli and Dalziel Bugeja were the scorers for Mdina whose bold efforts were ultimately not enough to cause an upset.

Msida obtained their third straight victory in the league but Qrendi will have felt unlucky to have lost the match 5-4.

Marian Gologan (double), Matthew Dingli, Floren Manea and Jeremy Cutajar got the goals for Msida. Maxime Landais, Alan Spiteri, Owen Fiteni and Sasha Ciric were the scorers for Qrendi.

In other matches, Lija Athletic returned to winning ways after seeing off Sliema Wanderers 6-1 while Swieqi United registered a straightforward 4-0 win over Gozo.

The Gatorade League resumes today with two interesting matches.

Żebbuġ Rangers entertain Ħamrun Spartans in the first match and Lija cross swords with Luxol in the late kick-off.
