The European Commission has adopted Malta’s Rural Development Programme . It outlines the priorities for €129 million for 2014-2020 .

The RDP emphasises restoring and enhancing ecosystems, resource efficiency, climate, farming and forestry.

Six per cent of agricultural land will come under bisdiversity management. Almost three per cent is expected to come under contracts for better water management. Sixty young farmers will get start-up aid; 116 farms will have funds to restructure or modernise.
