A man who insulted a policeman who caught him running a red light in Msida was today slapped with a €1,750 fine, which also covers the accused's breach of bail conditions.

The incident happened in Valley Road, Msida, yesterday morning.

The accused, Walter Mallo, 34, of Fgura, who is on bail over a separate case, pleaded guilty.

The court, presided by Magistrate Monica Vella, also placed Mr Mallo under a probation order for a year.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri were defence counsel, while Inspector Jonathan Ransley prosecuted.
