We arrived in Malta from Amsterdam on November 5 on Air Malta. One of our suitcases did not arrive. We came for my nephew’s wedding, taking place two days later.

We filed a claim and were told that someone would call us once the suitcase arrived and that it should be in Malta the next day.

Another passenger in a similar situation told us that there wasn’t another flight from Amsterdam till Saturday. The girl at the counter didn’t say anything even though I explained that I needed my suitcase as we were there for my nephew’s wedding.

When I called the following morning, I was told that my suitcase would be arriving that evening via Vienna at around 8:15pm. To my horror, it did not arrive.

I was very upset and up to then had not yet received an apology from anyone at Air Malta even though I stressed in every phone call and e-mail I sent that I was there for a wedding and I had everything in that suitcase.

So at 9am on the day of the wedding my sister took me shopping for a dress, shoes and some necessities. The wedding ceremony was at 2.30pm.

I did not get an apology from Air Malta until Sunday morning, November 8. I was told the same story as on Friday and that my suitcase should arrive that evening.

Finally that evening I received the call that my suitcase had arrived. I was born in Malta but I haven’t lived there for many years. I visit frequently.

I was amazed at the lack of accountability. I hate to think how a tourist would feel in a similar situation. I am very disappointed in Air Malta and its staff.
