The PN wants to see a transformation of the economy to ensure that there if fair distribution of wealth, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said today.

He was speaking at a meeting with the social partners during which the PN launched a document entitled An Economy For The People.

Dr Busuttil said the PN was going through the phase from effective opposition to alternative government by making concrete proposals for change. The party would not hide its ideas and it would say, as of now, where it wanted to take the country, and how.

The PN, he said, wanted the government to be a motor for growth. The environment, he said, should be a distinguishing element in the economy, everyone's dignity should be respected; Malta should be an example in the digital sector and Gozo should be at the heart of the economy.

Dr Busuttil said this was a working document, not a plan written in stone. This was a document open for discussion and the PN would therefore welcome ideas.

A presentation on the document was made by shadow minister Claudio Grech.
