The Institute for Tourism Studies is saving €14,076 annually on the provision of internet to students after changing the provider, Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis told Anthony Agius Decelis in reply to a parliamentary question.

He said the ITS has two internet providers. One of them is Mita, which provides a service used mostly by the staff.

The second is a wifi service for students, provided by a private company. The former government, by direct order, had awarded a contract to Vanilla Telecoms for €1,298 per month, or €15,576 annually.

The present government felt this sum was exaggerated. The contract was terminated in January this year and the service is now being provided at a charge to the ITS of €125 monthly, or €1,500 annually, a saving of €14,076 annually.
