Parliamentary Secretary Michael Falzon might well add to his priorities within his portfolio of the Government Property Division (November 17) the pending cases for the redemption of ground rent of ex-Church property.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, during his visit to Brussels on June 29, 2013, said: “The government is exploring ways to make it easier for people to redeem ex-Church property ground rent.”

He also admitted “...the government is being deprived of an important revenue stream because of work practices within the department that processed such requests”.

More than two years have elapsed since this declaration with yet no solution in sight.
