Hernanes: Midfielder Hernanes will be out for three weeks with a thigh injury, Juventus said yesterday. The Brazilian went off injured in the 1-0 win over Milan on Saturday, and underwent medical tests yesterday. Hernanes joined Juve from Inter in summer, making 11 appearances for the champions but failing to score so far.

Marcelo: Real Madrid’s woes deepened yesterday when tests confirmed Brazil full-back Marcelo damaged a thigh muscle in Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Barcelona. Marcelo, who had to come off in the 59th minute of the humiliating reverse at the Bernabeu, has not been included in the squad for the trip to play Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League Group A tomorrow.

Horton: Leeds goalkeeper Charlie Horton has left the club to deal with a private family matter back home in America. The USA Under-23 international has had his contract terminated just over five months since joining the club on a free transfer from Cardiff. Horton was on the bench for Leeds’ last seven league matches.

Antonetti: Frederic Antonetti was appointed Lille coach to replace Herve Renard, the Ligue 1 strugglers said. Former Ivory Coast coach Renard left by mutual consent on November 11 after the northern club got off to a mediocre start to the season. Antonetti, 54, has previously coached Bastia and Rennes.

Stabbing: A 35-year-old man was stabbed outside White Hart Lane ahead of Tottenham Hotspurs’s match with West Ham United on Sunday. Police said the victim was stabbed in the abdomen in an incident around the junction of White Hart Lane and Tottenham High Road. He was taken to a London hospital where his condition was said to be stable.
