Resilience should be about change and not confused with conforming to status quo, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said this morning at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth People’s Forum which is being held between today and Thursday.

The People’s Forum, which brings together civil society organisations within the Commonwealth, is this year discussing issues related to the theme of resilience within societies, in line with the genereal CHOGM theme ‘Adding global value’.

Welcoming delegates from different organisations, Dr Muscat said each forum served as a platform to shaping the future.

“The CHOGM has not officially started yet and I can already feel a certain Commonwealth pulse around,” Dr Muscat said.

Also speaking at the opening ceremony were the chairs of the People’s Forum and the Commonwealth Foundation Jacqueline Micallef Grimaud and Anand Satyan respectively and Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma.
