Thirteen Maltese are being held in prisons abroad, Foreign Minister George Vella told Censu Galea in reply to a parliamentary question today.

Five are being held in Australian prisons, two in the UK, and one each in Italy, Brazil, Libya, the US, Japan and Tunisia.

Two are awaiting trial.
