Thailand veteran Phisit Chandsri defended his IBSF World Snooker Masters title after beating Malta’s Jason Peplow 6-2 in the final in Hurghada, Egypt, yesterday.

Peplow, 46, came into the title match on a high following his excellent performance in Friday’s semi-final where he eliminated UAE player Al Joaker 5-1.

However, Chandsri proved to be a different proposition as the 2014 world Masters tournament winner opened strongly to take a 3-1 lead at the end of the first session.

When play resumed, Peplow gave an indication that he wasn’t finished yet and went on to win frame five 75-42.

But Chandsri potted breaks of 61 and 46 to re-establish his lead before sealing the title in the eighth frame.

Meanwhile, the men’s title went to India’s Pankaj Advani.

He beat China’s Zhao Xintong 8-6 in yesterday’s final.

In the women’s title decider, Belgian Wendy Jans made it four titles in a row and fifth in her career when she beat Anastasia Nechaeva, of Russia, 5-1.
