Student Competition Exhibition

This competition aims to highlight the diversity of challenges, opportunities and responses faced by cities throughout the world, from large nation States to small island communities. The Royal Institute of British Architects and CAA wanted to know how students thought their city will respond to issues such as the pressures of population growth, climate change and developments in technology.

This exhibition showcases the value and importance of our planet. The competition was open to all Commonwealth citizens and winning photographs will be exhibited in Malta on the occasion of CHOGM.
Time to See photographic exhibition

Where: Pjazza Ħelsien, Valletta
Time to See captures the impact that completely avoidable causes of blindness are having on people across the Commonwealth. It also focuses on the work that The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust and Standard Chartered are doing in support.
The Royal Family: a private collection of limited edition and commemorative bone china and porcelain

An exhibition of high-quality ceramics related to the British Royal Family including items in bone china and glass commemorating various events. The majority of the items are British made by prestigious brands such as Wedgwood, Royal Doulton and Spode & Royal Worcester.

Panorpheus

Fifty three composers from each of the Commonwealth countries present their compositions. These musical pieces will be performed in five concerts running through a single day.
The Commonwealth and its People: Diasporas, Identities, Memories 2015

The exhibition presents a narrative on departure, with its physical uprooting, risks, fears and hopes; memory and nostalgia, the emotive threads that help weave identity often with attempts at recreating the fabric of the community of origin in new contexts. It also looks at the nurtured hope of return to the country or community of origin. The exhibition articulates this process through art forms and different styles from the National Collection, as well as relevant objects from the National Libraries, National Archives and other sources

The Commonwealth Resounds in Malta

A free concert aimed at showcasing the Commonwealth’s cultural diversity. Various musicians, singers and dancers from Commonwealth regions will come together in a multi-sensory performance in various ensemble formats.

Extra performances of the opening ceremony will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. Tickets cost €15. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to charity.
Magna Carta 800: Global Tour

To celebrate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, Hereford Cathedral’s 1217 version of the Magna Carta, one of only four such surviving copies, will be on public display at the National Library. This is part of an exclusive global tour.
