Q: I need information on the warranty conditions for parts used in industrial equipment. The manufacturer’s warranty states that the guarantee on new parts is for six months or 1,000 hours of use. Is this according to EU regulations? If not, what does the law state about such guarantees?

The provisions of the Consumer Affairs Act and legislation administered by the Office for Consumer Affairs within the MCCAA provide legal protection on products purchased by consumers for their personal use. When goods are purchased for professional or business-related purposes, the free remedies provided by the Consumer Affairs Act do not apply.

To verify what legal rights you have when purchasing goods not intended for personal use, you may consult a lawyer about your rights under the Civil Code.
