The Maltese Diabetes Association, in collaboration with the Diabetes and Endocrine Centre at Mater Dei Hospital, joined 200 other member associations worldwide to celebrate World Diabetes Day and raise more awareness on this condition and its complications.

With the support of Plaza Centres plc, which hosted the association, a free blood glucose monitoring initiative was held and visitors could get tested for diabetes for free.

The event was also supported by Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne (left), Opposition leader Simon Busuttil (right), Shadow Minister for Health, Claudette Buttigieg (second from left), and government whip and chair of the Maltese Diabetes Parliamentary Working Group, Godfrey Farrugia.

A free give-away promoting a healthy breakfast was distributed to all present.
