Vocational education students in Malta have the best employment prospects from all EU member states for students who finish general or vocational education courses at ISCED Level 3 and ISCED Level 4. This emerges from the recently published EU Education and Training Monitor 2015.

Statistics quoted in the report, issued by the European Commission (http://ec.europa.eu/education/library/publications/monitor15_en.pdf pg 64), show that students in Malta who complete vocational courses at ISCED Level 3 and ISCED Level 4 have the highest employability rate from all EU countries, surpassing countries such as Germany and Austria.

The report indicates that the employability rate for students in Malta following vocational education at that level was close to 95 per cent, while the rate for education students finishing courses in general education at the same level was around 70 per cent.

Mcast principal and CEO Stephen Cachia said these results were very encouraging for the college . “These statistics continue to highlight the importance of vocational education and training for Maltese youths and encourage us to strive to keep what we are offering relevant to the needs of local industry and society,” he said.

Mcast president of the board of governors Silvio De Bono said: “The transformation Mcast is going through and the developments being made through initiatives such as the strengthening of the apprenticeship system will certainly continue to contribute to build on these positive results. The college remains committed to continue improving the educational provision since we strongly believe that this is a crucial contribution towards the further development of our country.”
