HSBC invests in environment

HSBC Malta has inaugurated the installation of 483 photovoltaic panels and the commissioning of seven electric vehicles as part of its sustainability drive to positively impact its business and the wider community. The project was implemented following an application by HSBC Malta to the HSBC Group’s ‘eCO2 Efficiency Fund’, which attracted €515,000.

Entitled ‘Simply Electric’, the initiative included the purchase of seven electric vehicles and the installation of six charging points at the bank’s operations centre in Qormi. A PV car port which, apart from generating green energy, provides shading for vehicles, was also installed.

The PV panels, generating an estimated 190,000 kWh of green energy from the sun per year, were installed over 10 of the bank’s offices.
