The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting should send a clear signal that those who want fear are not feared, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told youths this morning during the opening ceremony of the CHOGM Youth Forum.

“We cannot remain neutral but we must unite. The Commonwealth could have a powerful impact at a global level,” Dr Muscat said, referring to ongoing reports of terrorist attacks all over the world.

The Youth Forum, in its 10th edition, is being held between today and Wednesday. The forum brings young people together to discuss issues which would next week be discussed during the CHOGM.

In his address, Dr Muscat called on the youths present to act against the terrorist attacks by showing hope and not succumbing to fear. Many people, he said, were afraid to even go on with their daily life and this was unacceptable.

“We can win with hope. Let’s fight fear with hope.”
