The Valletta Summit is over. The deal was struck and the curtain drawn.

€1.8 billion were set aside by the European Commission and thrown away into the black hole of African aid, supposedly for an emergency fund that will (?) be used to finance repatriation of failed asylum seekers and other development projects in Africa.

But why do some European countries seem ever desperate to throw money away?
Why does anyone imagine that another €1.8 billion will make any difference when tens of billions of African aid have already been wasted on that continent?

With €1.8 billion one could have placed more ships in the water to escort these immigrants back to where they came from.
