Gudja United 0
Senglea Athletic 3

Senglea Athletic scored three second-half goals to see off Gudja United and move up to second in the BOV Division One standings.

There was never any doubt on who would take the three points yesterday as Senglea were all over their opponents right from the outset.

After three minutes Obaje Aud’s low shot was somehow kept out by goalkeeper Daniel Balzan.

On 23 minutes, Senglea came close to an opener when miscommunication between Balzan and Maulgue almost yielded an own goal.

On the stroke of half-time Balzan produced a fine save to keep out Obaje Aud’s shot.

Senglea maintained the initiative on the restart. They took the lead on 52 minutes when from a free-kick action Cassar’s curling drive flew into the net.

Senglea doubled their lead on 62 minutes when Obaje Aud controlled Guzman’s pass before lobbing the ball over Balzan.

The Cottonera side sealed the points 11 minutes from time when substitute Terence Scerri hit home after being set up by Cassar.

Melita 1
Fgura 0

Francois Guihard made up for missing a first-half penalty as he netted an injury-time winner to give Melita victory over Fgura.

Fgura deserved at least a point from the match, but again luck was not on their side.
It was Melita who threatened first midway through the first half when Matthew Hammett controlled the ball on the edge of the area but fired wide.

Fgura responded on 24 minutes when the unmarked Quincy Bregman saw his header saved by Matthew Sapiano.

Fgura nearly forged ahead on 35 minutes when Josef Dalli was freed by Andre Farrugia in the area, and his first time effort was partially saved by Sapiano. From the rebound Dalli fired over.

Seconds before the break, Melita were awarded a penalty when Kurt Pace shoved Guihard in the box but from the spot the Frenchman fired over.

On 69 minutes Luke Vella Critien turned past his marker but his shot finished just wide.

When a draw looked likely, Guihard latched onto Mennini Righini pass to hit the winner.
