VALLETTA-4, ST ANDREW'S-0

Njongo Priso scored a brace as Valletta got back to winning ways with an easy 4-0 victory over bottom club St Andrew's.

Valletta's win was never in doubt as they dominated for long stretched, netting twice in each half to secure the three points that lifted them to the top of the table, two ahead of Balzan who meet Hibernians on Sunday.

Valletta scored twice in the first half to all but secure the points.

Njongo Priso fired them in front with a low shot midway into the first half and Nigerian Umeh Calistus doubled their lead before half-time after latching on to Abdelkarim Nafti's perfect pass.

St Andrew's were outplayed for most of the first half., They had one chance when Michael Grima cut in from the left and hit a low shot that ended wide of the far post after taking a deflection.

The Citizens widened their lead two minutes into the second half.
Once again, Nafti was instrumental as his intelligent run unnerved the Saints' defence with the Tunisian eventually freeing Priso who beat Calleja with a clinical finish.

Just before the hour mark, Valletta made it 4-0 thanks to Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza who headed into an unguarded net after Kris Calleja, the St Andrew's goalkeeper, had pushed Nafti's header onto the crossbar.

Priso, the Valletta winger, was named BOV player of the match.
