Formula One: Austrian Alexander Wurz has ruled himself out of the running to take over as principal of Manor Marussia, the smallest team on the Formula One starting grid. “After a period of consideration, I have informed (owner) Stephen Fitzpatrick that I have taken the decision not to make myself available to Manor, the 41-year-old ex-Formula One driver said. Manor will have a vacancy after next week’s season-ending Abu Dhabi GP, with current principal John Booth and sporting director Graeme Lowdon resigning after reported differences with Fitzpatrick.
Cricket: England batsman Ian Bell has been dropped from the test squad for the December-January series against South Africa, the England Cricket Board (ECB) announced yesterday. The 33-year-old has played 118 tests for England, scoring 7,727 runs and winning five Ashes series since becoming a regular in the side following his debut in 2004, but disappointed in the recently concluded series against Pakistan.
