Former professional skater Tony Hawk is the first person ever to take on a horizontal loop.

Although the loop was his own creation, the 47-year-old American says in a YouTube video by Sony that he had no idea what he was doing.

Hawk, who started skating at 9 years old, is shown failing a couple of attempts and crashing out on safety mats before feeling ready to attempt it without the safety matting. He then skates the loop perfectly.
