Luxol and Ħamrun Spartans maintained their winning start after convincing victories over Sirens and Marsaskala, respectively, as another round of matches from the Gatorade Futsal League was played at the Corradino Pavilion.

Luxol were in dominant mood as they trounced Sirens 13-0.

Brazilian William Barbosa inspired the champions to the three points after scoring six goals.

Florin Anton netted a double for Luxol while Mark Zammit, Carl Azzopardi, Zvezdan Vukovic, Glenn Bonello and Peter Pullicino were also on the mark for the Saints.

Another emphatic win was recorded by the Spartans who hammered Marsaskala 15-1.

The attacking trident of Raphinha, Rodrigo and George Frendo produced a stunning display as they embarked on a goalscoring spree to put their team on their way to victory.

Raphinha helped himself to five goals, Frendo notched a poker and Rodrigo scored a hat-trick.

Michel Melo Jose and Jason Mifsud were also among the scorers as Ħamrun chalked up their second consecutive win.

Nikolay Filipov scored Marsaskala’s consolation.

In another match, Mdina Knights extended their positive run as they saw off Qrendi 8-5.

Cleavon Portelli was the Knights’ inspirational player as he scored three times, Leo Muscat was twice on target and Randall Vella and Neil Cauchi added two more goals to ensure Mdina’s victory.

Qrendi scored their goals through Alan Spiteri (2), Maxime Landais, Saviour Sammut and Morad El Torshi.

The league resumes this evening when Sliema face Lija in a match where both teams will be seeking their first points of the championship.

The late kick-off pits together two teams that started the campaign with a win – Valletta and Mqabba.
