I read this newspaper daily and often see photographs of areas that are in a shocking state and should be rectified by the government, or ministry, or owner.

This photograph is of the old Holiday Inn site in Tigné Street, Sliema, owned by Gap. It has been left like this for the last seven or eight years, while they built Fort Cambridge next door. They literally locked the door and left with all the rooms fully furnished. It is now in a terrible state of disrepair, windows broken, curtains shredded, teenagers getting access and messing around at night. Next thing there will be squattters.

Surely the furniture could be donated to a worthy Church charity or home? We all know the proposed 40-floor hotel will probably proceed at some point but that will be years away and until then I really feel someone should take responsibility for this eyesore that we overlook daily and which hundreds of tourists walk past from Tigné Point to Sliema.

I contacted Gap a few months ago with these pictures but they did not even reply.
