The relationship between disease and works of art is the subject of an intriguing study, detecting medical conditions that, in all likelihood, would be present in the sitter and faithfully reproduced by the artist.

The artist himself might be suffering from physical or psychological conditions which affect his works.

Carmel Mallia, professor in medicine at the University of Malta will share the discoveries of the study in a talk being organised by Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar at the Italian Cultural Institute, St George’s Square, Valletta, today at 6.30pm.
