Smosh, a YouTube duo with over 21 million subscribers, felt like they were having the worst interview ever when Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence did not cooperate and walked away angrily. But it turned out that the actress was pranking them with the help of her co-stars to raise money for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research.

Smosh yesterday released its ‘bad’ interview with Lawrence. In it, the 25-year-old actress was supposed to be talking about her upcoming film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. But instead of cooperating with interviewer Ian Hecox, she was acting mean on purpose to raise money for research on a genetic disorder.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness and often the people who suffer from it end up in a wheelchair. One of the boys who is affected by the disorder, is the fourteen-year-old Dylan Miceli-Nelson, who helped Lawrence prank his favourite YouTubers. The boy contacted Lawrence when he heard Smosh was planning an interview with her.

Together with Hunger Games actors Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, Miceli-Nelson gives Lawrence tips to turn the interview into an awkward situation for Smosh. Through an earpiece the boy tells her to play with her phone, act like she does not understand her interviewer and get angry when he is telling jokes.

The actors and Miceli-Nelson teamed up with Prank it FWD, a campaign for charity. For every share of the video and every 1,000 views, $1 is donated to non-profit organization DoSomething.org. The organization funds research of the Center for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the University of California in Los Angeles.

The last Hunger Games film will be in Maltese theatres this Thursday.
