The Church is convening its annual Diocesan Assembly on Friday and Saturday at the Catechumenal Centre, Mosta.

On Friday evening it will focus on Church pastoral policy regarding the family. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will give a presentation in the light of his experience at the bishops’ synod in Rome.

On Saturday morning, Fr Emmanuel Agius will give a presentation of the position paper prepared by a group of experts regarding assisted human procreation. Afterwards, Archbishop Charles Scicluna will speak about the vision of the Church in Malta, also in the context of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Time will be allocated for interventions from the audience.

The assembly will be presided by the Archbishop. It will be attended by members of the most important Church councils that advise the Archbishop, as well as leaders and representatives of all entities of the Church in Malta. These include the Archbishop’s delegates, provincials of religious congregations, parish priests and lay representatives of all parishes, heads of Church schools and leaders of Catholic associations and movements.

The feast of Christ the King will be marked next Sunday at 5.30pm at Żabbar parish church with a diocesan celebration on the theme ‘Christ the King, have mercy on us’. After evening prayers, the Archbishop will deliver his message. This will be followed by a sacramental blessing and Mass.
