I was pleased to read the article by Victor Aquilina. It highlighted the lack of attention that past Maltese governments gave to the truth of the country’s history.

I am 87 years of age and have lived in the UK for 52 years. While there I wrote articles on the subject of the truth of Maltese history.

Of course both political parties never bothered to do anything about the points I raised.

The parties allow historiansto write their biased versions of events, be they pro or againstpolitical parties, the Church orthe British.

Because I was away for so long, when I returned I looked forward to seeing youngsters being taught the truth of Maltese history.

I spoke to mature and educated people to find out what they think of their country in general. To my surprise I found that, on all levels of political conviction, there are people who still think and act as people I knew 70 years ago. They talk about that party being no good and never doing anything right when in power and so on.

How wrong they are. The country is in a good state. It is rich and has much to be enjoyed.

I know that, in politics, there are some who break the rules but that will carry on if the government is not harsher in punishing these abusers.
