There have been a lot of articles in the media of late on the subject of the progress in Robotics, 3D printers and other related technology.

We are led to believe that not only in machine-based occupations but even in the more sophisticated professions such as law, medicine and education, fewer people will be needed to fulfil these functions.

Thus the need for staff numbers will be greatly reduced.

These changes may not be imminent but will begin to happen soon. How then, can this, if true, be reconciled with a declared need for the labour provided through mass migration to support a declining birth rate in developed economies?
