The next time you have one or, better still, two hours free, take the time to go to our beautiful ‘silent city’ of Mdina and pop over to Palazzo Falson, which until January 10, 2016 is hosting another of its famous mini exhibitions with free entrance.

This time it is the turn of some exquisite ‘fob’ or pocket watches, many of which come from the Palazzo Falson private collection and others very generously lent by private collectors. Though there are only around 50 of them, they have been excellently displayed.

The guest curator is the well-known David Thompson, accompanied by that extremely creative director Michael Lowell and the indefatigable Francesca Balzan, together with Lisa Attard and Michelle Galea.

This is the fifth mini exhibition, the previous ones being on whistles, pipes, perfume bottles and the Edward Lear paintings.

While you’re there, it will certainly be worth your while and the cost of an entrance ticket to visit all the Palazzo, which has so many unique collections bequeathed by the late Olaf Gollcher.

Well done everyone and I hope that we will have the pleasure of seeing many more of these mini collections, to say nothing of course of the other huge exhibitions also organised by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti, the latest being the extremely successful Jewellery Exhibition held last year at the Casino Maltese in Valletta.
