• An original rock opera in Maltese entitled Ġwanninu will be staged at Don Bosco Oratory Theatre today at 2.30pm and on Saturday at 7.30pm. • Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation (12A) and The Age of Adaline will be screened at Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30pm and 8pm respectively.

• A musical event entitled Concertino on Santa Cecilia’s Eve, directed by Antoine Mercieca will be held on Friday and Saturday at 7pm to mark the feast of St Cecilia. • The annual symphonic concert of La Stella Philharmonic Society will be held on Saturday at 7pm at Astra Theatre, Victoria. It will feature compositions and works composed by the band’s conductor Joseph Vella to mark the 45th anniversary of his appointment. Admission is free.

• A prayer evening will be held by the diocesan Eucharistic Movement at St Francis Church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8pm, followed by Mass at midnight.

• Readings from English and Maltese plays submitted in the Gozo Live play-writing competition will take place on November 27 at 7.30pm in the Gozo Ministry exhibition hall, St Francis Square, Victoria. Awards will also be presented to the winner and runners-up. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

• A performance of Flesh and Blood, featuring a collection of some of the finest thoughts and writings by published authors, poets and actors on the trials and tribulations of parenthood and life with children, will be held on December 5 at 7.30pm at the Gozo Ministry, St Francis Square, Victoria. First performed as a radio drama in London in 1992, it will be staged as a duologue by Penny Evans and Martin Day, founders of Teatru Acoustica. Admission is free.
