Diarra: French international Lassana Diarra has revealed that his cousin was one of the 129 victims killed in the Paris attacks on the night that he was playing against Germany at the Stade de France. Diarra took to social media yesterday to confirm that Asta Diakite, a cousin he described as being like a “big sister” to him, had died in Friday’s atrocities.

Australia: Asian champions Australia will be without striker Tomi Juric and playmaker Tom Rogic for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Bangladesh in Dhaka. Juric injured a groin and Rogic suffered quad soreness in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Kyrgyzstan in Canberra and they will not be risked for the fixture against Bangladesh.

Mexico: Mexico began their World Cup qualifying campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to strike-hit El Salvador on Friday in their first match under new coach Juan Carlos Osorio. Andres Guardado, Hector Herrera and Carlos Vela shared the goals in the CONCACAF qualifying stage Group A match at the Azteca stadium.

Netherlands: Virgil van Dijk and Riechedly Bazoer have withdrawn from the Netherlands squad for Tuesday’s friendly against Germany in Hanover because of injuries, the Dutch football association KNVB said yesterday. KNVB said defender Van Dijk has a “knee complaint”, while midfielder Bazoer suffered a hamstring strain during Friday’s 3-2 win over Wales.
