The government should be preparing for a rainy day, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said.

Addressing the Malta Employers Association's 50th anniversary, Dr Busuttil said the Opposition would be publishing a working document on the economy in the coming days.

Entitled "An Economy for the People", Dr Busuttil said the document would set out the PN's vision for how to plan for an economic 'rainy day'.

"We recently heard how some are making hay while the sun shines, but a government should be preparing for when it's windy, rainy or perhaps even stormy," Dr Busuttil said.

He added that the document was not set in stone and would be open for consultation.
