Valletta made an excellent start to the 2015/16 Gatorade Futsal League after crushing Sirens 11-0.

True to expectations, Valletta were in a class of their own as they produced a catalogue of chances.

Their scoring spree featured braces from Daniel Brincat, Dylan Musu, Denis di Maio and Liam Cachia.

Cristian Cuadros Silva, Jurgen Pace and Melvin Borg completed the rout for the dominant Citizens.

Mdina Knights, starting their second league campaign, kicked off their commitments with a resounding 5-0 win over Gozo FC.

The Gozitans were outclassed by their more-quoted opponents who went in for the break 2-0 ahead following a Leo Muscat double.

Robert Peplow scored a third while Roberto Sarcia and Tyrone Grech added more goals for the Knights.

Swieqi started their campaign in style as they eased past Marsaskala 6-4.

Diego Gomes de Mello and Cristian David Hurtado Sanchez hit the target twice with the other goals coming from Dylan Micallef and Laszlo Hayossy.

Nikolay Filipov marked his debut for Marsaskala with a brace. Andre Mamo and Matthew Grima got the other goals.

Meanwhile, last week, champions Luxol opened their season on a top note after beating Valletta 9-5 after extra-time to win the Gatorade Super Cup.

Stunning comeback

Valletta looked well on course to claim the season-opening honour after going 5-1 ahead at one point but Luxol refused to throw in the towel.

They managed to cancel out the deficit with a brace from Glenn Bonello and goals from Carl Azzopardi and William Barbosa.

Valletta lost the plot in extra time as goals from Frane Despotovic (2), Barbosa and Azzopardi secured Luxol’s victory.

At the end of the match, Futsal Malta Association president Mark Borg presented the Super Cup trophy to Luxol captain Barbosa with club president Mario Vella and chairman Joe Aquilina also joining in the celebrations.
