Lino DeBono, Secretary, Association of Former Members of Parliament, writes:

I heard the news of Gontran Borg’s demise on the national TV channel. He had been experiencing ill-health for these last years.

I had the pleasure of knowing him when he was a colleague in Parliament. He was a righteous person, very religious and, during the time I knew him, I never ever heard him uttering a bad word about or criticising anybody. He always tried to be helpful to one and all.

He occupied several high positions during his lifetime, including chairman of Bank of Valletta.

I also had the pleasure of meeting his son, Siegfried.

On behalf of the Association of Foremer Members of Parliament and also as a friend, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family.

We all miss this gentleman.

May he rest in peace and may his family find solace, keeping in mind the memory of a man enjoying a happy life.
