The Sliema to Valletta ferry service will continue operating its normal schedule during the EU migration summit on Wednesday and Thursday, the operator confirmed this afternoon.
However, Valletta Ferry Services underlined that a notice to mariners stated that “navigation may be restricted in designated Restricted Zones”.
"Passengers are advised to travel by Ferry to Valletta due to the likely congestion on the roads."
The Birgu to Valletta ferry will also work its normal schedule, however the ferry service may have to stop operating as follows: Wednesday between 5.15pm and 6.30pm. (Grand Harbour); On Thursday between 7.30am and 9.45am and from 12.45pm and 2pm (Grand Harbour).
On Thursday, the ferry service shall start operating from Birgu at 6.30am.
The operator said it will be working closely with the Armed Forces, the police and Transport Malta to maintain the published schedule on http://www.vallettaferryservices.com/schedule.pdf.
Most of Valletta's streets are expected to be closed down during the duration of the Valletta summit, which will host more than 40 European and African leaders.
TRAFFIC FREEPHONE SERVICE
Transport Malta also said today it has set up a freephone service in connection with traffic arrangements for the Valletta Summit 2015.
Freephone number 80072309 will start operating tomorrow.
