Horse Racing: Trainer Gary Moore is recovering well in hospital after being kicked in the back several times by one of his horses. The incident happened at Moore’s Cisswood Stables in Sussex and he was taken to Redhill Hospital for treatment. Moore spent Thursday night in intensive care after having fluid on his lungs and damaging ribs, but the trainer’s son, Joshua, is pleased to report his injuries are not too serious. He said: “He’s out of intensive care. He’s a bit groggy, obviously, but nothing worse than that.”

Basket, NBA: Veteran forward James Jones launched a blistering tirade at his Cleveland team-mates, including LeBron James, at half-time of Friday’s clash against the winless Philadelphia 76ers, which helped spark them to a 108-102 victory. The Cavs were struggling to maintain focus for the third consecutive game and Jones, who has been alongside James for five consecutive NBA Finals appearances, had seen enough. If the Cavaliers want to be great, he said, they have to do things a different way. “That hit home for us,” Cleveland forward Kevin Love said.

Cricket: Ravindra Jadeja celebrated his first Test appearance in over a year with a five-wicket second-innings haul as India drew first blood in their series with South Africa in Mohali, yesterday. Jadeja, who had not played in the longest format since last August, took five for 21, including the prize wicket of Proteas captain Hashim Amla, as the hosts won by 108 runs inside three days. Victory was Virat Kohli’s first as Indian Test skipper on home soil after South Africa failed their spin test, bowled out for 109 in their pursuit of 218.

Basketball: Twice former winners Barcelona and emerging force Fenerbahce Istanbul enjoyed impressive Euroleague wins at two of the most intimidating away courts. Blowing hot and cold this season, an expensively assembled Fenerbahce fired on all cylinders in a 74-60 success at Red Star Belgrade in front of a raucous 16,203 Serbian crowd. The Turkish side never looked back after racing into a 15-2 lead although Red Star briefly slashed the deficit to five points. Barcelona, winners in 2003 and 2010, prevailed 85-78 in an electrifying contest with 1999 champions Zalgiris Kaunas of Lithuania after Croatian centre Ante Tomic racked up 18 points and eight rebounds.
