A vocational fund to provide financial support to Gozitans to help further their careers has been launched by Rotary Club of Gozo and the Gozo Ministry.

The project is the initiative of Rotary Club of Gozo, whose members raise money through internal fundraising and by securing donations from the local business community.

The ministry has pledged up to €10,000 in support.

The fund may be used to sponsor individuals’ participation in short courses, career-focused study and certification, or to buy books, tools and other relevant materials. It may also help to provide support by means of personal tuition, mentoring or assisted work placement.

Club president Guy Kurkjian said: “Rotary Club of Gozo is extremely proud to be leading this initiative.

“We hope to make a real difference by helping Gozitans to develop in their chosen careers.”

Gozo Minister Anton Refalo and Michael Grech, president of the Gozo Business Chamber, praised the club’s efforts and pledged their support.

Godwin Grech from the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology said there were synergies between the fund and Mcast’s objectives, adding that he planned to identify suitable applicants.

To apply for support from the fund send an e-mail to Mr Kurkjian at president@rotarygozo.org.
